Cottage Garden
Landscape Project - Carmunnock | Lesley Christie
The job description here was to change this dead space with a shed into an older style cottage garden, with the use of anything I had in my garage. So broke up some blonde sandstone paving and used some black mono block to create a sitting area, all excavated soils were used to change the heights in the planted areas and with the use of plants that were already there(and some new ones),come summer times it should be packed full of colour. The path meanders all the way to the front door of the cottage and had to be wide enough to let a wheelchair get to the sitting area. Some sleepers upright and cut to the angle frame the circle and will eventually have climbing roses on them
18m of slabbing (reclaimed) sandstone. The reason for this was that we wanted the garden to look like it was there for years, not new and contemporary
40 m of black mono-block just to frame the blonde sandstone. Sleepers concreted in to frame the circle and allow climbers to abound. Path needed to take the weight of a vehicle.
Materials:
-
3 tons sharp / building sand
20 bags cement
18 m slabbing
40 linear metres monoblock

There was no drawn plan to this garden, it was entirely designed in my head and given free role.
