Liz & Graeme's
Transformed Garden
Elderslie Project
Client Brief
A patio area was required to sit out on and an area to go to enjoy the summer / evening sun. Apart from this it was basically a blank cancas to create an outdoor room that was appealing and very useable.
When I first arrived on site, what faced me was basically a building site with piles of rubbleand soil stacked everywhere from a new extension that had recently been added to the house and a sream flowing through the garden.
The first job was to bring in the micro digger and clear the site as I had already enviioned 3 tiers to this garden. I decided to try and to use every sinkle ton of soil and rubble that was already there. Sleeper walls as raised beds would divide the spaces and create the retainer units that would hold back and give me all the levels I needed. I had already planned for a corner circle patio and shaped sleeper surround to enjoy the summer evening sun from, but it was how we would link these areas that would allow me to create the steps and meandering path which you now see.
The circle and sleepers with crazy paving have become an unique approach by Pairi-dae-za Designs to create a look that could be seen as both modern and contemporary and oldie / worldly, leaving the planting styles entirely up to the client.
By using turfit allowed me to shape borders that would highlight the path and soften the hard-landscaping. We successfully did not remove a single ton out of the garden and brought in a total of 50 tons of materials.
A project that I predicted would take 6/7 weeks due to ythe current pandemic situation. With the supply of materials under the COVID-19 predictament was started and finished in just over three weeks, leaving a very satisfied client.
